Postman Henry Henry loved playing postman; he did not have a red van, but he had his blue bicycle. His bicycle had a lovely little basket! It was handy when Henry delivered bread from the bakery, but today, he was postman Henry. Henry loaded his basket with letters and small parcels; a lady in her car delivered the larger parcels. He peddled his bicycle up and down hills, stopping off to say hello to the townsfolk. He especially liked stopping at the grain store, where his friend Nell, the most beautiful cat, lived and kept an eye on the cheeky mice. Mr. Pearson wasn’t very happy to see the big pile of white envelopes; he hoped they weren’t all bills. Henry then stopped at the butcher shop. His mate Kev was making sausages, and Henry thought they might be nice for tea. Kev put some away in the fridge for Henry to pick up later. Henry delivered all the letters but had some to post for Mrs. Muddle Duck. She was always a bit muddled, and that morning, while walking down the street, she had forgotten to post her letter. Henry was kind, and he didn’t think it was any trouble at all. Later that day, Henry relaxed with a cup of tea. Peddling his little bicycle had tired his legs. Knowing he had done his part to help get the mail through, as the slogan goes, "through rain and snow," Henry thought to himself that it was just as well it wasn’t raining or snowing.
